REMEMBERING IN DEARBORN - Global Linguist Solutions Participates in Dearborn, Michigan Memorial Day Parade on Monday May 26, 2008

GLS Participates in Dearborn, Michigan Memorial Day Parade

This past Memorial Day, Monday May 26, 2008, Global Linguist Solutions joined the Association of Patriotic Arab Americans in Military in Dearborn, Michigan to remember those who gave their lives for the defense of America. Over 120 Arab Americans representing APAAM showed their strength and dedication to the Dearborn, Michigan community in remembering those veterans and heroes who gave their lives for this great country.

Jamal Baadani, Ali Yahya, Manhal Shallal, Sarmed Yokhana, Angie Lavake, and Jennifer Proctor were present to represent GLS. WWII Veterans Rosette Harb and Alec Barry were again present to represent APAAM. Rosette Harb 89, and Alec Barry 80, are two of the few remaining Arab American WWII Veterans who came to remember. In addition to GLS, the Michigan National Guard, US Army, Michigan State Representative Gino Polidori, and the University of Michigan ROTC Program, partnered with APAAM.

This was the first time that a Veterans Organization, APAAM, to recognize and memorialized Arabic Linguists for their service and sacrifice to this country in a Memorial Day Parade. The Association of Patriotic Arab American in Military (www.apaam.org), is the largest Arab American Veterans Organization in the nation representing hundreds of military members, veterans, and their families. There are over 3,500 Arab Americans who serve in the US Military.

“It is time for reflection and time for me to remember two of my best friends who gave their life in Iraq as linguists” said Manhal Shallal, Training Specialist, Regional Recruiting Center, Central Region. Manhal Shallal worked as a linguist in Iraq for over two and a half years as part of the INSCOM contract prior to coming to GLS in his current capacity.

“This was a great opportunity for GLS to be recognized by the community along with other organizations from the community and to participate with another organization such as APAAM” said Ali Yahya, Region Manager, RRC Central Region. Previous to GLS, Ali Yahya recruited for over four and a half years with the US Army’s 09L program in Detroit, Michigan.

GLS’ success in the community is in part due to the development of long-term partnerships in the Arab American community, specifically in the Detroit and Dearborn areas of Michigan by the Central Region RRC - success that will be transcended to other regions of the country.

The event was organized to recognize the important role that Arab Americans play in the United States. The event was a national event, GLS participated in the Washington, DC area. The event gave the opportunity for people to meet and network with over 50 people participating. GLS was represented by Fadi Madain (Asst. Region Manager, RRC SE), Mohamed Ali (Linguist Recruiter, RRC SE), and Abror Sharipov (Linguist Recruiter, RRC SE).

GLS team members join in painting a mural at the 4th Arab American Service Day.

“We were one of the most active groups participating. We played games, painted drawings, and most importantly networked with Arab Americans. In the recognition of the participation we were given T-shirts with the event’s Logo. This was a great event to introduce GLS to the community at the basic level.” Said Mohamed Ali, Linguist Recruiter with Southeast Regional Recruiting Center – Falls Church, VA.

GLS’ goals were:

This year participants teamed up with AmeriCorps members in the D.C. area and combining Arab American Service Day with All Corps Service Day. At Powell Elementary School in the Georgia-Petworth community, the only thing separating the students from gang members in the alley on the south side is a chain link fence. This is why all of our Service Day activities, including the mural we paint, will share the common goal of gang prevention through positive action.

GLS Regional Recruiting Centers Conduct Integrated Training as Part of GLS’ Integrated Team Management Approach (ITMA)

Falls Church, VA., April 14th, 2008 - Global Linguist Solutions conducted integrated training for the first time between GLS and L3 Recruiting and Accession Staff. By the end of the training week a new team emerged – A team that began the transition and integration of L3 Recruiters and accession staff and emerged as the overall National GLS recruiting team – A team of one under GLS’ Integrated Team Management Approach (ITMA). The training focused on the recruiting and operation of the Regional Recruiting Centers with the GLS Recruiting Lifecycle Process (Funnel) as the central guide of the training.

The future GLS integrated team members of L3 came from all over the United States, coming to Falls Church, VA from Michigan, New York, California, Arizona, Illinois, and Texas to train with their soon to be GLS counterparts in Northern Virginia.

“This is a really exciting time for GLS Recruiting because of the integrated team approach – enabling GLS to maintain central management and control of the recruiting and accession process making it a win-win situation for GLS, but most importantly for the linguist.” said Imad Masseh, Linguist Recruiter, Southeast Regional Recruiting Center.

ITMA enabled immediate growth of the Regional Recruiting Center (RRC) teams - Florence Kobusingye, Regional Manager, Southeast Regional Recruiting Center now manages a team of over 23 recruiters, testing control officers, training specialists, HR specialists, background security screeners, and family support coordinators to support linguist recruiting and accessions in the Southeast region of the United States.

Marina Tufail, West Region Manager and Rana Abbas, Central Region Co-Manager, were both instrumental in developing the training syllabus and coordination of the overall logistics of the training. We want to thank them for their dedication to the success of the RRC training.
